Traveling to the Golden Ring cities and towns is perhaps the best way to learn about Russian traditions and national character. In a few hours away from Moscow you will dive into beautiful nature, ancient architecture and folk crafts of the central region. This route shows a vivid picture of Russian history with its remarkable milestones.
DAY 1. Moscow
- Arrival to Moscow. Meeting the guide in the airport.
- Transfer to the hotel. Check-in.
- Dinner at the hotel restaurant.
- City sightseeing bus tour. Introduction to the most popular places of interest and historic monuments in the Russian capital and an excursion to the Red Square, the Kremlin and St. Basil's Cathedral.
DAY 2
- Buffet breakfast at the hotel in Moscow.
- The Arbat street and the Moscow underground (walking tour). You will see the initial line of the Moscow metro founded in 1935 which is often called an “underground palace” due to its rich decoration. Then you’re welcome to the old pedestrian Arbat street in the heart of Moscow, where you can pop in a souvenir shop, enjoy works of street artists or take a break in a bar or a restaurant.
- Museum-estate "Tsaritsyno" – the magnificent residence of Empress Catherine II. Tourists are charmed by a park with fountains and ponds, original buildings of the 18th century and the restored palace.
- Transfer to the hotel.
DAY 3. The Golden Ring
- Buffet breakfast at the hotel in Moscow.
- Sergiev Posad town (75 km). Tour to the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius – the largest Russian monastery. An ensemble of cathedrals, churches and chapels built in 15-19th centuries by the best architects of the country is in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
- Rostov the Great (140 km). The town is famous for the white-stone architecture traditional in the Golden Ring route and a beautiful “finift” craft which is enamel painting on metal. You will visit the Rostov Kremlin and one of its museum exhibitions.
- Transfer to the hotel in Yaroslavl (60 km).
DAY 4
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Sightseeing tour in Yaroslavl. The program includes excursions to the Holy Transfiguration Monastery and the Art museum.
- Trip to Suzdal town and a sightseeing tour. No other place of Russia has so many monasteries survived in their original form - as fortresses. Here you can feel the spirit of medieval Russia while visiting the open-air museum of wooden architecture, the Friary of St. Euthymius and the Transfiguration Cathedral.
- Transfer to the hotel in Suzdal.
DAY 5
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Bogolyubovo (36 km). Have you ever seen a white church on a hill of green meadow, prospecting its dome to the blue sky? Here it is, a symbol of the Golden Ring culture, the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl.
- Vladimir. A city tour includes the famous Golden Gates, cathedrals of the 12th century, pedestrian streets and many more..
- Transfer to Moscow airport.
